Last night we did what we do best, we entertained. Since Nikki has moved in our biggest thrill in life, aside from going to bed and waking up everyday next to my best friend, has been having people over for dinner and general merriment. Last night we had an old friend and her goon over for a Mexican fiesta more suitable for May 5, than the beginning of November. I “worked from home” that day which gave me time to make a black bean and corn salad, and she brought her molcajete and made her k street famous guacamole. I marinated strips of beef and chicken and peppers and onions and grilled up some fajita fillings, which we devoured while watching NBC Thursday night tv and throwing back a few “light” beers, because lets be real, we are watching our girlish figure. Then it was time for dessert. This is when my girl shines. We brainstormed via intermediary and Gchat yesterday. Brownies, cookies, cake? Jason responded: “Fave, fave, most fave”, so cake it was. Well, cupcakes. Lemon cupcakes, with a lemon cream cheese frosting to be exact. It really was “like velour in my mouth.” A great time had by all. Enthusiastic conversations about their recent trip to Boston, the go ruck challenge and correct juicing methods. I can’t wait to do it again, after Hawaii of course. Aloha!
