The Peoples Republic of the United States
One of my biggest concerns with society today is people’s lack of comprehension of reality. I was in a Federal Budgeting class last week and the asinine input that was offered up by my fellow classmates was astounding. “Will we be bought out by China?”. Seriously. Is this seriously a belief of Middle America? MIDDLE AMERICA. I’m talking about, the majority of our population. People are generally...

I struggle for all events that require me to dress up. Not feeling comfortable in dresses and loathing the “lesbians in ties” look, I never really know what to wear to stand out or simply just not wear Levis 511’s and a thermal. What can I do to dress it up..not trying too hard…a shabby chic if you will?

“The List”
– On Rosanne’s 18th birthday, her father wrote down a list of 100 essential country songs he felt Rosanne should know. Now, Rosanne Cash’s album “The List” is up for a 2011 Grammy. Roseanne Cash: The List

Office Pet Peeve of the day #3
When I sneeze do not cross cube lines and yell over our fabricated walls to tell me that God blesses me. Mind your own damn business. Im sick over here; the last thing im concerned with is someone blessing me, least of all God.

Office Pet Peeve of the day #2
The government’s implied responsibility to “create” words. Offeror is not a real word. Neither is deobligation. Im tired of editing word documents that my supervisors would find to be completely correct but Microsoft believes they deserve a red squiggly underline.

Office Pet Peeve of the day
When people walk into the building and I’m holding the door open for them and instead of just continuing to walk through the door (which has been already opened for them) they consciously stop to ensure that they hit the handicapped access button so that the next door we walk through becomes automatically ajar as if it were gates entering into some sort of holy land. I am all for handicapped...

The world spins madly on
Pulling the sheets over your head doesn’t protect you. Doesn’t change the past present or future. The world still spins madly outside…but for a few minutes you are insulated. Unreachable. I pulled the cats under with me to share my new world if only for a few minutes. Stolen minutes from reality where you can forget everything thats going on. It’s like the ability to close...

The snow got my goat
How anticlimactic. Here I sit, 2 days after christmas in my cube. Without enough foresight to take annual leave today, I PRAYED for the first time in my adult life (as far as my memory serves) for snow. I rushed and gave myself indigestion yesterday trying to get home before this “blizzard”. Then I drank a 750 mL of a Rodenback while I stared out my window for hours waiting for...

My insatiable craving for short ribs these past few weeks decidedly monopolized my Sunday. Hangover in tow, I dragged myself to the Harris Teeter because I knew I had to get these suckers in if they were to braise for the full 7 hours. patiently stirring the polenta A sexy slow braise… The final product. Atomica and "the one with all the cheeses"
In honor of detox december i’ve tried picking up a new hobby that doesn’t involve booze, breasts, babes, etc. Unfortunately for me, I can’t seem to get away from that, and instead now I just TAKE PICTURES of booze, breasts, babes, etc. Lovely little outing last night to the new Pizzeria Paradiso location on King Street in Alexandria. I got a flemish sour ale. and ate...

Alternate Work Schedule
There’s a chilly calm as I look at those big windows into the December morning. You’ve just left me for work and ordered me to go back to sleep. “I should enjoy my morning to sleep in” you said..But its tough to tell you that once your warm body rolled out and into the shower this morning I’ve been unable to close my eyes. But thats the truth. Now, you’ve left...

Taking a lunchtime adventure out into the frigid depths of the arctic today, over to Borders at Farragut North.
